Wow, I consider Rush N Attack pretty damn hard.  Although to be truthful, even though I own the NES version, I've only played the arcade version ( and I've played it a lot).

Now, the safe spot is on the top left edge of the rib cage. You can stand there, it doesn't hurt you. You have a clear shot at the boss' eye, and the boss' shots go over your head. I also remember going to Wal-Mart as a kid looking for NES games and all they had was about 20 copies of Contra.  I though it must be a terrible game if  that is all they have.  Little did I know it would be an alltime favorite.  I also remember seeing about 20 copies of Section Z and Trojan at Target.
