I'm starting the habit of beating whatever games are on my shelf in alphabetical order, then keeping up as I acquire new games. ]]>

But SNES, NES and N64 consoles and games are hard to come by here so most of these classics are hard to get, although there is an over population of ps1 consoles with no games...
Also anything with the word "Mario" or "Zelda" here seems to warrant an absurd price tag. ]]>

Good luck! I too am working on finishing every game I own. I'd have to really sit down and list every game I own and whether or not I've finished it and go from there. My collection has been significantly downsized so I only own about 200 games between every system I own. A complete guess is that I've finished about 60% of the games I own.

One day I'll actually accomplish this since chances are high I will not buy any more consoles or handhelds. At best I'll buy Nintendo's next handheld, but even that is unlikely.

I know how you feel, I have beaten a lot of the games I own, since my "Collection" is mostly comprised of games I really enjoy playing, so those are pretty much all beaten (not 100% like I plan on doing though).
Other than that, I have a few games I got for the "Complete the trilogy" effect or "It was cheap!" effect or even "It's rare, so why not?" effect hahahah, and those I still have to get into.

Anyway, I was having some fun here with my little brother on Super Mario World, and I ended up beating it as well, here is the proof hahahahaha

I don't really have anything to say about this game, othar than that I love it more than any game in existance!
It is, hands down, my all time favorite. I own a Brazilian, American, Japanese and European Carts of this game just because I love it so much!
This was played on my Japanese copy, the one I use on my speedruns. You can get 98 exits (actually you can even do 100) by using some glitches, but the Orb is the only one I can do easily, so I stop at 98. I might use my nakitek game saver and "TAS" it all the way to 100 someday.
The orb is a glitch that allows you to get the orb from the sunken ghost ship and put it into your reserve item slot. And then use it to beat any level you wish. I have used them twice to beat both doors to bowser castle, reaching a total of 98 on the save file
Other than that, just the regular 96 exits stuff.
Yeah Super Mario World is fantastic - it's a prime example for gaming at its finest! I can't tell you how many times I've beaten that game, the three Donkey Kong Country games, and Earthbound. Dozens probably. I could probably play all 5 of those games with my eyes shut. That would make for an interesting "Let's Play". Play the game...blindfolded! Lol ]]>

I have done much the same thing at the start of 2014, i made a pledge to myself that any game i bought for my consoles i would complete.
And i played all games except 3 in 2014, although it wasn't particularly difficult considering i didn't buy many games in 2014

Keep going though i commend you, and i enjoy seeing others making it through their collection or "To Play" Pile.
that's actually impressive!
I didn't even come close to playing all games I got in 2014, maybe that's why I decided to do this now. Even games like bayonetta 2 that I was hyped as hell about getting and ended up not beting it yet lol

I will beat all my games! http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=31&threadid=140503 2015-01-13T23:25:32 -05.00 LipeSan 44 After a few days without making any visible progress here, I have finally beaten Top Gear 2!

Here is a few thoughts about the game:

This is by far the racing game I have played the most throughout my life. It was the only racing game I had for several years, and I love it!
The music is great, the gameplay is better than all other racers on the SNES IMO, the upgrades are fun, all tracks are unique and interesting.

There is one problem though: after all those years playing, I have developed a strategy that I tend to follow (read this if you wanna know how to beat the game)

Top Gear 2 Strategy:

You hold your Nitro charges on the first two races up to the 4th lap no matter what, and then release all of them back to back. This in my experience makes not only your car go fast, but also slow down opponents, and it's also easier to maneuver because there will be less cars at once on screen like at the beginning. This never fails me, 20k money free.
Do your best on the third race (as the 4th lap thing doesn't work there for some reason).
By doing that, you will be able to buy the best "Wet Tires" for the upcoming rain level. Also, you should buy the best Nitro set you can get with the money you have.
This game is built around Nitro. And having a strong one simply breaks the game. You boost right off the start, get first place ASAP and then save your boosts for when someone passes you. Do that and it's GG.
After that it is just a matter of time before you get the best engine and nitro, after that the best gearbox, and that's pretty much it. You just gotta grind all the way to the last race, it is pretty much impossible to lose now (even on the hardest level).

So in order to make this a little more fun, I tried not to be attached to my strategy, and went on buying all upgrades, step by step, not skipping any of them, to try and make my car get stronger as the game gets harder. It kinda worked for a while, but eventually I got too strong again and the game got boringly easy.
Then I moved on to making some self challenges, like "non-stop nitro until runs out" (which is awesome and hard btw), "nitro-less races", "using the horn all the time" (I was really bored here hahaha), and so on.

In the end, the game got quite fun again, and I went all the way to the very last race and beat the game!
I totally recommend playing this game. If you are a retro racing games lover, this is a must!

Anyway, here is the proof!

You could always just sell any game you can't beat.
Then you can claim you've beaten every game you own! This just might be the best idea ever.

oh, i though that wouldn't be allowed, since i'm doing it for my own beat list, i guess I'll post there if I still can
Of course it's allowed! As long as you're not using cheat codes, Game Genie codes, or savestates, your victories would be welcomed.
