X8 had possibly the weakest level design in the series and the bosses felt uninspired and a little overpowered - it was very hard to pick the right one to take on first. When compared with X7 at the time of its release, I thought X8 was excellent, and still think it's good, but it has tremendous flaws.

How do you want it!

I think I go with being disappointing. There's nothing worse than when I fire up a new game expecting it to be good, and it winds up being a waste of my time. At least we know the broken games. They have some curiosity value.

I think I'll go with Mario is Missing. When I first played it 20 some years ago, I was honestly expecting a quality platformer and not a bad geography quiz game mixed with bad platforming.

7th Saga for SNES is my runner up. There was so much potential for a great RPG in it. Build your own party, choose for 8 characters, some quality 16 bit orchestral music. But it is so grindy that it's unplayable. 3/4 of my time playing the game was doing nothing but grinding levels, since even the most basic of monster encounters can kick your ass. That's not fun at all! Especially for a generic "find the crystals, save the world" type story. ]]>

I just think Legacy of Darkness is a much better game.

I'm going to go with Color a Dinosaur on NES. If the concept weren't bad enough, the game has terrible color palettes to choose from with a lot of common colors missing and replaced with weird patterns. It is somewhat interesting how they managed to make all of the dinosaurs appear stoned though.

Even the worst games out there have some people claiming to enjoy it, even if it's just out of nostalgia. But I'm willing to bet there's not a single person that can say they have ever enjoyed playing Color a Dinosaur.
The weirdest part of Color a Dinosaur is that it's almost strictly worse than Videomation. At least in Videomation you can be creative within the extreme limitations of the game. I'd say Color a Dinosaur is a strong pick for worst Nintendo game. ]]>

Superman 64 is a very internet answer. Most of the 3d platformers of that era were really bad, what makes Superman worse than Busby 3d, Quest 64, or Castlevania 64.
