I tried to find some more info on IM2 and IM2 prototypes. I headed over to the warp zone to see what I could find. This is what I came up with:
http://www.neswarpzone.com/x2.html
http://www.neswarpzone.com/x3.html
http://www.neswarpzone.com/im2p.html

Three separate IM2 prototypes, and what do they have in common??? EVERYONE HAS MASK ROMS!!!! WTF!

So now we have one cart that might be a production game with an EPROM present, and we have three prototypes without a single one present.

I would assume that the three "Samples" have just took left over Epxy chips, but who knows? ]]>

Can anyone confirm that the B/W labeled IM2 doesn't have EPROMs present?

hmmmm... It does appear to have a single EPROM present in that picture.  As others have stated, it is possible that IM2 had EPROMs present.

What throws me off is the fact that there are two EPROMs and neither has any sort of label over the window.

Looking at the two, it's clear that these titles had masked roms present and not EPROMs. Going on that, I would have to think that this game is a prototype. ]]>
