No, there's not.  There is a tiny speaker on the Wii remote, but the only Wii mic I know about is that doofy Wii-speak attachment that sits by the TV.

the sd slot was just an idea cuz thats where i store my virtual console games anyway(and it does kick ass and i could see them charging us again to download games we already own anyway)....barring the sd slot they could always make a little adapter that plugs into the hardly used usb slots in back...a stylus screen attachment for the wiimote would be a good idea...hell with nintendo wanting to get into education a stylus attachment could be used for mass educational games ]]>

(1) battery life is much, much less of an issue than it was in the 90's. Systems now have LiIon batteries, and come standard with wall-plugs. Back in the time of Game Boy systems, you had to buy questionable 3rd party adapters to be able to plug in while at home. In light of this, something like the Super Game Boy made a lot of sense.

(2) The DS is the second best selling console of all time, behind the PS2. It will probably surpass the PS2 within the next couple of years. Money that Nintendo gets you to spend on some expensive adapter (the GBA adapter for the GC was $100, IIRC) is money that you can't spend on their primary product lines.

Just a guess, but the GBA adapter for the GC probably sold very poorly, given that it cost almost as much as the system it was emulating. If a DS adapter cost $100-$150, who would buy it? And it what volume?

The reason the $60 Super Game Boy was a good idea at the time, was because adding color to the Game Boy experience was  HUGE deal.  The GBA adapter wasn't particularly earth shattering, and I fail to see how the DS adapter would really add much of anything new to the experience.

I don't think the device would work very well, either, since the game play experience of the DS simply will not translate to a single screen.

I understand we could have a discussion on how many games would and would not work on the Wii. I didn't think too terribly hard about it. It would be interesting to have that discussion in a separate thread. Just discuss what games would and would not work for whatever reason.

However, I'll get back to the "it does not make financial sense" part. If we are assuming it would work well, why would it not make financial sense? Like I said before, I don't think it would replace potential DS purchases, as the handheld is for portable use, something this adapter would not be able to achieve (realistically or efficiently). However, I fail to see how it wouldn't make financial sense. They've done it twice before, with the Super Game Boy and Advance player on the GC. I would think that, if it wouldn't make financial sense, they probably wouldn't have done it twice. Also, they've already practically taken everyone's money for DS systems... I'm willing to bet that a large portion of people who have both systems would buy one, simply because they love the DS! I had a
GB and a Super GB. I had a GBA and a GBA player for the GC. It seems to me that, assuming it would work well with the input devices, it would just be another money printer for Nintendo. Albeit a smaller money printer. But a money printer nonetheless!

If you are basing that comment on the assumption that the device just wouldn't work well, then I can understand. ]]>
