Nope, I remember reading it back when I first joined the NES community in what, '04?  It was a short lived thing.  How do you think the one dude actually came up with the idea of the Purple Ganon?  I'm not the only one who remembered that thread

If you Google Purple Ganon, you can see the guy who initially said it bragging to his buddies about it on some forum called "The Shizz"... he didn't seem like he remembered it from back in the day. I think it was just a coincidence.
