speaking of "metroidvania" why does castlevania get so much credit for this style of gameplay? It should just be called "metroid-like" The non-linear exploration stuff didn't get introduced to castlevania until the 11th game in the series. I've been saying that for a long time. I even made a thread about it.

SoTN has Metroid aspects + action RPG aspects. But Castlevania wasn't even known for RPG aspects at this time. I'd say they combined Metroid + Zelda (under the skin on Castlevania)

Ya I’m just a Capcom guy so I was kinda trashing Konami.

It does have tight control. But the platforming/stage design is just ok imo. And the different characters select seemed idk gimmicky(?) you can use Bucky for most of the game until your forced to use one of the other characters.

Not a bad game but it is overrated imo
Skinny... you must be disapointed in every game you play then, haha. Compared to Capcom on NES, urrthang sucks!

I agree this is a Konami bootleg Mega Man, though.

But it's still decent and one of the better Konami platformers I can recall. Great music!

Tricky game, but unlimited continues as I recall? I beat it so probably... I made a thread about it at the time. The rocket/flying stages were cool.

I get what you mean by saying the character changing becomes gimmicky because you're bascailly forced to use other characters in certain situtations and Bucky mostly everywhere else. Could have mixed that up a bit better...

Nope. Castlevania sucks

Capcom rules. Why would Capcom want to lower its standard to compare with Konami?
