The SNES Mini with RGB restore is the best way to go IMO. It looks just as good as a 1CHIP03 without the price tag. If you are just planning on using component, do the restore and try and snag a set of HD Retrovision cables when they are available again. Sounds good. My 24 inch Samsung HDTV does support the SNES on 240p component. For some reason, it doesn't support the Genesis though. The GPM-02 component mod I have done before looks really good, even better than its stock RGB. I just wish I could get rid of its jailbars. It was 3 medium sized bars, not the crazy amount you see when there's no grounding. Maybe it was because I had the video stretched out or that I used the same ground wire for all the component jacks.

Please excuse the glob of hot glue I put on the SNES, I did a lot of trial and error on this SNES when trying to get the colors right on the component mod and I was very much new to modding as well. My next mod will be MUCH cleaner. The jailbars can't actually be seen in the youtube video I just posted, but they're there in person.

So I'm looking for opinions here. Should I stick to the older model SNES revisions, or should I get 1CHIP/SNES mini? I've seen services on retrofixes that can make the picture quality much better on older SNES consoles, should I go that route? ]]>
