#1: Always be pleasant to deal with. You will make some friends conducting business with your local game people, and they will remember the nice people they meet and what they are looking for. If you help someone grow their collection, they will usually help you grow yours.

#2: Practice patience, if it's not something you consider yourself good at. Unless it's a true rarity of a game, you can probably get it cheaper than the one in your hands, or the only copy listed for "Buy it Now" on Ebay.

#3: Buy in lots/bulk, even if you have to sell some things from it that you don't want. Also, when you sell, sell as individual items if you want the most $$$, or sell things in lots/bulk if you don't want to spend the time piecing it out. That is the trade off.

#4: When dealing with a shop or a stranger or a flea market: Never be afraid to bargain with people to try and get a lower price. On the flip side: set a price you won't go above (and stick to it!). There will usually be another copy to be found.
