It had the inputs mapped incorrectly.  I forgot which ones but I remember the controller ports where backwards.  The controllers were complete trash.  Games sounded off and the colors not correct either.   It's like nobody did QA on the unit.

In the end, the Retron 3 just made me want the real consoles.

With that said I recently bought a AVS and I think it's great.  ]]>

I've never used a Framemeister, so I can't really comment on its worth. ]]>

Retron 5/Retro Freak.

SNES + framemeister (get one quick, they're stopping production)

Wait for a SNOAC clone to get HDMI (GamerzTek added HDMI to one of their NES clones.)

I've heard many speak of the framemeister. Considering the price (hundreds of dollars) is it worth it? I know that's a bit subjective, but what do people say in general? Are there HD SNES clones in the works? Not sure what SNOAC is? Thanks.

Is the AVS really a "clone"? I thought it was something else entirely. It does play all NES games and is HD. I know that the Analogue uses authentic NES and famicom parts, so it's not a clone per-say. Not sure why anyone would want a clone when you can get the AVS or Analogue, though the latter is expensive! By the strictest definition, yes it is a hardware clone.

It is not using original NES chips or boards. It's using a single FPGA type of chip to "clone" the hardware of the NES chips. The reason people are reluctant to call it a clone is that clone consoles got a bad reputation using the cheapest NOACs and having sorry build quality. And affection for Bunnyboy to actually put out a decent hardware clo... uh, replicator.

Analogue's newest NT Mini uses an FPGA similar to the AVS. So that's technically a ... replicated fascimilie?

It's a clone.
