my friend has a 170 lb rottweiler, one of the nicest dogs i've ever seen, but don't fuck with its owner with the dog in sight, it will cause you great bodily harm

My point here is that I feel this is purely natural aggression, and as the owner, I haven't neglected or done anything negatively to introduce or support this behavior. It is essentially a fact that Pitbulls and a lot of other breeds do become naturally more territorial around the 6 month mark.

I'd also like to clarify that she is the sweetest little girl with all of my family and friends, very loving. I took a nap the other day on my couch and she actually hopped up and layed on my back and slept with me.

So please, don't by default completely blame every owner of every story you hear. I do completely agree however, that bad owners who don't responsible leash/contain their dog, or abuse their dog simply fuels the natural fire.

Lastly, I will say that while I love my girl to death, I will never get a Pitbull again, as it does get tiring having to watch them or lock them up for preventative measures. ]]>

poorly trained small dogs.  its actually poorly socialized dogs that are the problem.    If an owner gets off his ass and gets his dog "playdates" with other dogs while its a puppy, takes it to obedience school where they can have playmates of all sizes, etc, the dog will be fine.   Its the ones locked in the house, never taken for walks, and never really given the opportunity to interact with other dogs, particularily as puppies, that become the vicious little bitch in your neighbor's backyard, barking and snapping at everybody

Pitbulls get a bad rap BECAUSE OF THE MEDIA!!! You dont hear stories about Dalmations, Poodles, and Chows in the news because they are "family" pets even though they are all mean tempered dogs. I know of one of each breed personally that have been put down for acting out. They werent in the press because it wouldnt be a good story. BUT a story of a Pit doing something will hit big time because they are an easy target. Like said before, dogs are mean because of the owners. If youre a douche bag prick and have a pit, guess what, your dog will be a douche bag prick too. Your pets take your bad vises just as your kids do. I have a super sweet Pit and Lab that will only hurt when they get too close to show you love (ie, head butts from kisses).

And yes, my Pit is missing a front leg. ]]>

One is literally the biggest baby I ever met. If you yell at him he cowers in fear for over ten minutes. Nobody has ever hit him. He's just a very sensitive 100 pound baby.

The other I didn't know well enough but she was always good.

The last one was a very very sweet dog. She grew up on a farm and loved to kill rats. She would regularly kill groundhogs after we moved her from the farm. Could she tell the difference between a groundhog and the neighbours wiener dog? Yup. Could i? Nope. ]]>

I think the violent dog list is pure bullshit simply put.

It's not violent dogs, it should be a violent and/or dumbass owner list.

Rotties, pits, and the rest are not violent by nature, they're trained or abused into being pure killing machine bastards by the losers that own or dominate over them.

Some dogs though in general aren't fans of others, same with people, sometimes it's a big vs small issue, or well perhaps that dog for whatever reason hates the other, just like people. They do break up dogs at some dog parks by size just so the big ones won't dominate a small one or step on it and crush it on accident.

Violent dog breeds are as stupid as violent gun lists...it's the people behind them. Personally the most violent dogs I've come across are poorly trained small dogs. They get this tiny penis syndrome thing going on and they'll lunge out and attack anything bigger as they're intimidated and scared. I only know one pit, but it's a big dumb playful big old wuss I'd be fine having my baby around.

I don't think it's entirely bullshit,

They certainly aren't violent "by nature", they are violent on purpose.  They are bred that way, those same asshole just went searching for the most violent dogs they could find and bred them for ages to produce dogs that are most suitable as attack dogs and fighting dogs.  That includes their brain development as well as the body development.

Dogs differ a lot depending on the breed and some breeds are trickier to handle properly (on average) than others.  Every dog is still unique of course, it's not like certain breeds are always violent or unpredictable or anything.  There are no absolutes, only tendencies.

Personally I find it's the ones that are bred for beauty that I'm always leary about because they have those narrow heads (with no brain room) and they often seem to be prone to unpredictable behavior in my experience.

I still think this factor is far less important compared to the owners though.

I can't confirm this maybe someone else can but I have heard that some aggressive dogs can have brain problems as they age that can make them go crazy.
If not necessarily crazy, dogs with aggressive breeds tend to get more aggressive (or at least much less tolerant) when they get older.   I know Chows fall under that, thought that Akitas might too?

There are only irresponsible and violent dog owners.
Given the proper training and living condition I believe any dog can be a good dog.

I can agree with this.

But quick question?  irresponsible and violent dog owners own quite a vast array of different breeds.  How come all I ever hear about it put bulls?

Do irresponsible and violent dog owners own only that breed?

Because the kind of people that own pit bulls raise them to be mean and aggressive so they can have big, scary dogs. Not to mention the dog fighters. Pitties were originally bred as guard dogs, but the aggression in them has more or less been bred out at this point. The only reason that dogs are ever "bad" is because the owners are pieces of shit.

Also, every decade or so has its own breed of dog that gets a bad rap. 20-30 years ago it was the German shepherds and after that it was dobies. Both of which have since started being used as police dogs. ]]>
