That looks good, but maybe you could use the extra colors (SNES AFAIK uses 15 colors per sprite) for more subtle detail.  For example, Link's outline would be black, his har would be a unique color, his sword is colored differently...basically give the NES sprites more colors for a simple but effective palette.
I can do it... I was just messing with it just adding some tones (shadows), mmhh maybe I will make another one, this time using my style to make it 16bits alike
