Just beat it tonight. Very enjoyable experience. It took me quite a while because I've been playing in tiny chunks for the last two months. I think if I played through again I would turn on the harder monsters. I've actually always kind of liked grinding in these games.

I think that was my biggest thing as well, would have liked to turn on the harder monsters on my first playthrough.

Did you do the second story after the credits as well?

Im currently working through it now.  I knew there was post game stuff but pleasantly surprised that it seems more involved than I was expecting.  I’ve been hoping to find a nice turn based jrpg on the ps4 since I got the thing and leave it to dragon quest not to disappoint.

Hell ya man, the post game story content is a pretty decent chunk of the game.

I personally wouldn't consider it beat until you finish the final true boss.

Such a good tape!

I just beat DQ 11 tonight. Wow what a game. Not many complaints, but the things that stick out are I wish there were more things to make with the forge and the game is way too easy. I did not die once and really didn't even get that close to a wipe out. There is a shitload of books you can find late game and post game that open up the forge a lot.

I think there is an option that makes it so you only *can* use the forge while progressing through the game so I know it's possible to ignore shops completely for weapons/armor/accessories.

I was in the same boat though, I found myself just using stuff that I bought from stores for the most part.

The options when you start your game up for stronger monsters etc I think can be personalized to make it a better experience but it sucks it is something you have to learn after the fact.

However the game was good enough that it demands a second playthrough at some point.

I take it 8, 9, 10 also give you your money's worth as well in terms of probable playtime?

I don't suppose any of those let you marry and have a family like DQ5?
No, none of them have that from V also remember that X is an MMO it is not a standard Dragon Quest series game and was not released here.

I can't speak for everyone else but I've always gotten my monies worth.
So for a solo only gamer like myself (I am open to maybe trying out online gaming someday but right now it just doesn't appeal to me at all; I hope you guys don't think I'm crazy for thinking) I guess I'm SOL on Dragon Quest 10 just like I am about Final Fantasy 11.

You are indeed shit out of luck on that one, which sucks because I would have really loved to play a Dragon Quest MMO.

With the success of Dragon Quest XI though I think we are going to be seeing lots more DQ stuff come to the west. ]]>

Overall DQ 11 is a fantastic game! Cool story and so much to do. The visuals are awesome as well. DQ 11 is influenced by DQ 3,8,and the Heroes games and for anyone who has played those other games, you will see what I mean. I put in about 126 hours into this game. My party overal was at level 61.

Another gripe that I just thought of is the character building system...it is pretty stingy on skill points. I thought you should be given more, especially in the middle of the game. The way they are distributed is kind of dumb. Oh well.
I had to get to level 99 to max them all out, actually I think a couple characters don't get enough skill points and you need to grind some Skill Seeds.
