"Nintendo's displays were elaborate.  At some location's laser-light beams shot through the air.  Silver-metallic and fluorescent-yellow pipes and tubes snaked over and around girders.  It was as if you were inside a Nintendo game.  The displays won awards from the Point of Purchase Advertising Institute (POPAI) several years in a row."

Anyways, great pickups!  I'm actually looking for NES Top Loader myself.  I was pretty excited when I got one of those World of Nintendo signs, so I thought I'd fill you in on what I know.  Congrats!

And.... one of my most awesome finds ever - an original - mint condition - WORLD OF NINTENDO fluorescent sign!!!!!!!!  I can't even actually express how awesome I think this is and these pictures truly don't do it justice.  Some of you [who like signs, I suppose] may have seen the fiber-optic version of this one selling here and there recently.  I don't know for sure, but would assume this one is older.  Also, if you've ever owned something like that or even a traditional neon - they get pretty damn annoying in a house if you don't have a game room, etc.  Even then - neon can get obnoxious on the eyes..  Since I have a mostly-mint Black Box collection and first-run Deluxe Set and other things of the era - this thing REALLY fits in with my collection.  It's 36" wide and weighs about 40+lbs and uses fluorescent lights inside.  Doesn't give off heat, and if the bulbs burn out from use you can easily replace them.  These bulbs are new, actually!  Other than one very light scratch on the non-lit side it is in IMMACULATE shape.  I got it for a very fair price - triple digits but very low considering what this is.

I'd be interested in hearing any additional info anyone may have on it.  My guess is this is most likely from around 1986.  The real irony to this popping into my life is I JUST SOLD my blue Nintendo neon about a week before finding this.  It was sort of in the way, and I doubled my money plus, and it just didn't "do it" for me . . . when I bought it it was sort of just filling the void for THIS sign.  Then a week after making that sort of hesitant sale, this pops up... unbelievable.  THIS is the one I remember from my youth, and always was like a dream holy-grail item for me.  The fact that this is an older one with NO Seal of Quality really makes me a happy camper.  If it was that one I'd probably be selling it, to be honest.  Same with the fiber-optic - just not my thing.  I am seriously thrilled to have it and amazed to find it right here in Pittsburgh and really wanted to share it with you all.  Hope you dig it too!!   :-D
