Still doesn't come close to an injection mold or even a homemade silicone mold unless you want the texture tho. I can not speak to the quality of shapeways.com, but the the local microcenter has maker bots and bunnyboy's cases are way better. We are talking the difference between prototype and production quality. I suspect shapeways does the post-processing for you (i.e. cleaning up the machining step of the print-table with an acetone bath)  whereas you are getting a raw product from Microcenter.
