To be honest, I don't have any problems with this. Nintendo is known for having a wide variety of characters that all have their own personality. There are many other female characters by Nintendo, such as Peach, Daisy, Zelda, etc. and none of those are known as sex-symbols. But Samus have always been known as kind of the "sexy girl from Nintendo" and that's just Samus' character. Besides, her being sexy with curves doesn't take anything from the gameplay.
