Actually, that's where the connector that plugs into the snes goes (underneith).

It's not that it would be hard to dump this, it just would be very difficult to do anything other than emulate it.

Theres custom chips on there? (didn't actually look that well) That pretty much makes this project impossible. Depending on how complicated the chips are...you might need an fpga to reproduce them (not cheap, not cheap AT ALL) So ya.

edit: just noticed that pcb has a place for a snes cart slot. I bet that would've been used for cic bypassing in case they couldn't install a cic for whatever reason.

Easy answer: not possible

Hard answer: very expensive while using 2-3 donor carts. The square chip and very long chip on the right are both DSPs, extra custom processors. Those cannot be reproduced (for less than the cost of that auction) so they would need to be pulled from donor carts. Buy the cart and send it over here for a few months, then I can give you more details

SNES does use a CIC chip, its actually the same processor as the NES CIC but with different code loaded inside. Chinese have made exact copies of the chip die but the encryption has not been cracked like the NES. Physical cart shape was used for region blocking, not for third party cart blocking.

Yes, the SNES does have a lockout device installed. Most PAL games won't work properly in NTSC systems, stating "This Game Pak was not designed for your Super NES." or something to that effect. As for dumping this "cartridge", I've heard it'd be quite nearly impossible, given the type of hardware used in making the game. Then again, I would hypothesize it can be done, and it'd probably be doable in much the same way the NWC was dumped.

No, I'm pretty sure the SNES had some sort of lockout becuase the unliscenced game super 3d Noah's Arc utiliizes an adapter which bypasses whatever secure measures nintendo installed.

Does the snes even have a lockout? pretty sure they just relied on the cartridge shape for region protection.
