AFAIK the guy that started them there came up with the idea of doing on a forum himself (the game itself has been around offline or ages) so I'd be curious to find out how it spread to here. I've played Werewolf for years both offline and online, but a lot of the online communities I used play with have either fallen apart, banned the game from their forums, or simply gotten too large. I was trying to find a new place to enjoy the game, and I thought, why not try introducing the game to a friendly community of gamers like NintendoAge? And the rest is history.

I'm officially home from Europe and my progress the past few weeks on the next installment of Werewolf has been a much faster process than I thought it would be.
