Just flatten it out, lay manual on top of it and lay it between two pieces of cardboard. Wrap some tape around so it doesn't slide out from between them. Only thing is, obviously takes a bit longer too.

As everyone said above, bubble mailers are fine for cart only, but with boxes and manuals stuff might get crunched a bit.
