I received a new connector yesterday. It was an easy, completely painless install. The AVS is back up and running. Crazy that one little connector being bent caused the whole problem.

The lesson here is if you buy any games make sure they are cleaned up before trying them. For the life of me I can only assume there was something in the board that caused the damage. ]]>

Have you contacted customer support yet?
I emailed support first but it's Sunday and a holiday so we shall wait patiently. I have faith it'll be resolved I was just hoping maybe a simple fix or something someone had come across before.  ]]>

Have you tried turning on the system without a game in it at all? You should still get the menu screen and be able to scroll through it.
Also maybe try re-installing the current FPGA firmware on the system. Did you do an update or was it still running the firmware straight out of the box?
What are you using for power? The supplied power adapter, the TV or a computer? Maybe give that a change up and see if there is a difference.
It's been running as is straight out of the box, have had zero problems till today. Even without a game there is no controller response on the menu.

here a video from earlier before i tested an authentic controller
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIfl_CVMJZg

My buddy/rival and 2016 nintendo age world heavyweight tournament champion, Richardhead, was kind enough to let me go over and test his AVS with my controllers and my avs with his controllers and we made a discovery trying to figure out what the issue was.

here is his copy of 8-bit x-mas 2016 plugged into his avs, the avs is just on the boot menu. where as when we plugged that game into my system

There is only the green and blue lights and they are dull compared to when in his system.
all we can figure at this point is that theres a connection issue or something going on with the board itself.
Rich also noted that it was much harder to pull carts out of my avs, which isn't really an issue unless thats part of the connection issue or whatever happened.
I have contacted support of course that was my first move but i'm posting here for future reference and to have all the pictures in one place. ]]>
