That's around $675 in today's dollars.  It also came out late in the SNES/Genesis life cycle, about a year before the N64 released; so, it probably wasn't marketed for very long.  

I only started thinking about this device again after seeing this Gaming Historian video.  He didn't mention it.  It's a forgotten peripheral.  But it was a part of my gaming experience during the great console wars of the 90's!
