Those older systems and arcades are starting to show problems with eproms so protos, test carts, and some unlicensed games are starting to reach the danger zone. Go buy a USB CopyNES to backup your protos before they die forever! (end blatant advertising) ]]>

So I think it is possible for capacitors, etc.. to be shorting other connections 

Now I do have a non working GameBoy Color game (Mega Man something) that I cannot figure out how to fix.  And I have another GameBoy Color (Bionic Commando Elite Forces) game that always hangs the game when I go into a certain level.   So in my mind, NES games are just built better.
