What I wonder is there was another CIB bought to give to the raffle winner, right? But the winner said that box was fake as well. So did David pull this same thing with the other person he bought that CIB from?
No. been in contact with that seller too. No chargeback on that one.

And, you all can disagree with me if you want (grab your pitchforks) .... but there's no way Pheidian should keep the box and sell it for charity or whatever.  HaynHammah should pay for the shipping and whatever fees you may have incurred Pheidian so you are definitely left whole that is for sure. But at the end of the day, he did send you your box back, and he is paying you the full $2,100 through the appeals.
So basically David shouldn't eat any of the cost of his little scam? And the full $2100 doesn't include any additional costs Pheidian may have incurred because of David's selfishness.

David did choose to give away the cart and manual in a raffle. BTW, didn't he get paid by everyone who participated in that raffle anyway? Didn't whatever that amount was go to David, too?

To be fair, Tulpa, he did say he thinks David should pay for the shipping and the $130 Pheidian had to pay for the ordeal to get the box back.
I did take that into account, but I don't think there is any way to get him to pay for that. I don't think David should be rewarded for his little scam in any way. Keep in mind, we don't know how much he made off the raffle.

I mean, if you dine and dash and get caught, you can't just pay for the meal and walk away.

Agreed. I have a tough time sympathizing with a scammer after they were caught. Even if Pheidian were to get reimbursed legal fees and shipping who is to say the payment wouldn't later be charged back leaving him out of luck again. ]]>

This is awesome news! Good news either way, but do we know if the money is ultimately coming from HaynHammah? That what it takes for true justice!
Pheidian. I'm glad you got your money back brother. That was good news to hear.

And yes CZRoe, the money going back to Pheidian is coming from HaynHammah, not insurance. I've seen the email.

Anyway. Most importantly. Congrats Matti on gettin paid back. And good thing you started your thread here so the community could jump in and help out. Count your lucky stars because most people that have been scammed never get anything back.  ]]>

Why on Earth would Pheidan pay out of pocket to return the box? He may have gotten his money back, but if you read the thread, he also had to eat about $130 in fees for getting the police report translated.

Also, international shipping isn't trivial. Probably $40-$50 to send the box back to the USA with appropriate packaging and tracking. David already had the box, it's not the seller's job to eat even more money to resend him the box he already had.

At best, perhaps you could argue that David would be entitled to the box if he paid $130 in fees as well as the cost of shipping it to him again. He's certainly not entitled to it for free, he gave up his right to the box when he filed a fraudulent claim and returned it.
I believe I stated earlier in the thread he needed to be paid to ship it back, I also stated he needs to recoup his fees. End of the day people do what they feel is right to them.  I am happy he got his money back.... that was the end game.
