"Producing new hardware and purchasing new electronic components to create a game did not feel right, because in the long run we would just be adding to the already out of control pile of e-waste. "

While I agree that we should be careful as a society about not producing unnecessary waste, I don't think making carts of a homebrew nes game is of any concern. If you were producing 1 million copies of your game then I can understand (like when Nintendo printed Super Mario Bros 1/Duck Hunt for the nes back in the day).

Also I don't think the people buying new nes games think this is e-waste because I'm sure most of the audience of this game are hardcore fans and collectors of the nes. So they are most likely not going to be throwing away these games after playing them. When I think of e-waste I think of printers, fax machines, scanners , old 90's computers and monitors and such that becomes obsolete.

Anyway, the project looks very cool though! ]]>

Final rom for the completed game was just released today. Seems they have now started production of the cartridges as well.

It's pretty fun, funny, and definitely unique on the NES. I think it's well worth your time to play through it. ]]>

Neat. I emailed them too about the waitlist. I've never heard of this. If 80 other people have, where do they keep tabs on stuff like this? I'll wait on playing the ROM to see if I can grab a cart.
There's a little list here on NA that mentioned it back on 9/5   . I just happened to run across it on Twitter the night before, but could not find a way to buy it. I wrote it off, but decided to check again in the morning since Micro Mages had just released and I was online anyways. Lo and behold, it was suddenly for sale with instructions on how to order.
