Just a quick serious comment, just in case anyone is actually wondering, and comes back to this thread in the future, YES, everyone is trolling. Such matters cannot be voted upon. Pokemon Yellow is a GBC game. If the cartridge were not yellow, it would be BLACK.

The Japanese version is grey. It lacks the GBC enhancements given to non-Japanese versions.

The points above clearly demonstrate that GBC color palettes have nothing whatsoever to do with SGB enhancements. There is no overlap. So we can stop talking about SGB.

If you put Pokemon Yellow into a GBC, you cannot change the palette like with a grey cart. In other words, it behaves like a black cart. It doesn't matter if it's only "a little bit" enhanced, it is nonetheless enhanced.
Nintendo just wants to make it clear that the game doesn't take proper advantage of Game Boy Color.

It seems to only use Game Boy Color instructions to switch between limited palettes originally developed for Super Game Boy use.

to add to that, the box says Gameboy, likely a marketing tactic to let people know it is compatible with the original Gameboy and Red/Blue ]]>
