I never shop online at Gamestop, though I've used Estarland several times. At least Estarland tells you beforehand if the case/instructions are included and gives a small discount if they're missing. Another weird thing about GameStop is they will flat out refuse to stock new copies of a game if they have a bunch of used ones in stock. Yes, they get tons more money on resales, by often buying as low as 10% MSRP then reselling at 90%. I am triple Platinum at Club Nintendo because I buy all my current generation Nintendo games new. Well, even their so-called "new" games cases on the shelves have already been opened; normally, this would not be an issue since I open them anyway when I get home, but how do I know some punk didn't come along before me and scan the registration codes on the inserts with his cellphone just to get free Nintendo points? Someone could just as easily do that with activation or DLC codes as well. When possible, I request a sealed copy from behind the counter.

Mostly I only use GameStop to buy strategy guides, or for day one reserves on systems or games. Some games have some pretty lucrative pre-order bonuses. They don't deal retro games at all, and don't even pay "chump change" for current gen games used, so I take all my trades over to Game-X-Change, the only used retro games shop remaining in my area.  ]]>

So you bought a bunch of shit on their sale (which is intended to be a customer appreciation event as much as it is about clearing stock). Sent it back (when you bought it used and as such should have expected used quality, they have always advertised that as long as it works then it's yours). Now you are wondering why they banned you from purchasing?

I don't like Gamestop...at all. Their policies are shit, but they are very clear about those policies. No used games are promised to come in their original packaging, so you can't complain about that either. As such, ordering online is a gamble in that case. They see it as you are buying the GAME to PLAY, not a collector or resale piece.

So if 1/3 of the games you got wouldn't play and you returned them, then that is fine. If you returned them because they weren't pretty enough for you and never tested them, that isn't cool at all.

Actually Danny I never said that I wondered why they banned me from purchasing. My post wasn't so much a complaint as a warning to others not to buy too many multiple copies of items or else they could get flagged also. My being banned had nothing to do with my returns, it was due to purchasing multiple copies of games (I have confirmed this with GS employees).

I don't give a shit about them not coming in original packaging, and I expected resurfaced discs. What I did not expect where shattered, cracked plastic cases with pieces floating all over the place (in fact I cut myself opening one of them which was particularly jagged), which happened several times, and CRACKED discs, which should not be acceptable for anyone. In fact, I have heard that GameStop will soon start applying circular "disc protector" stickers to the inner ring of discs to help prevent this from happening to their used games in the refurbishing/online distribution centers, so I don't believe I am the only one complaining. Several of the games did not play beyond the load screen.

BTW, I think it is totally cool to return items that work but don't meet your condition standards. If it isn't, why does every big retailer in the U.S. have at least a 7-day return policy? It is a cost of doing business.

Thanks for the lecture though dude.

I just have to agree here. I will buy anything from them online and if it does not come in with original case and manual, I will return it. Yeah, I see the policy and understand it, but I'll take my chances and they are taking their chances on sending me a non-CIB game. Just how it works. I'd definitely return over cracked or bad scratched disks, but I'm more strict and will return everything if it isn't complete. However, I see you two squashed it, but thought I would put my 2 cents in.

I'm sorry for my tone, I took it a little too negatively I think. It's not that Gamestop are assholes, its just that they need some help with their quality control - they're the ones losing money over it, not me.
