sivak: not really, i usally just stick to the forums.

buffering the data is a much more elegant way of doing it then what i was thinking. how large would this buffer have to be?

I also am in need of a working sound-fx system, so that is what I will be writing. Unless my work calls me, it will be done soon. The easy way to make it work is to reserve RAM as a buffer for writes to the sound registers, change the music engine so it only writes to the buffer, overwrite any sfx into the buffer, then output your sound update.

But I don't have any code to do the actual sound effects separately yet, I need to write that also. ]]>

It's a shame, because I've gotten some pretty good sound effects out of that thing and I think it really would make a good sound tool for any game developer if it weren't for that problem. ]]>

how difficult would it be to modify the sound code to allow soundfx to interrupt the song?
