Hearst owns all the stations around here. At least the local stations I watch. Sinclair stations are mostly in the bible belt.

Sinclair is all over including up and down the west coast. I don't know Hearst's reputation, but it's definitely +1 that it's not Sinclair. ]]>

We as a website seem to agree that CNN sucks. I only watch local news anymore

Local news can be good. You might want to check and make sure your local news isn't owned by Sinclair. ]]>

I think that's a bit of an oversimplification, but probably true for the last several years. Maybe media has become fragmented enough that some outlets can provide "old-school journalism" and not feel the squeeze. ]]>

My issue with CNN wasn't the partisanship but the overreliance on gimmicks and sensationalism. All the 24 hour news networks are guilty of that to some degree, but CNN seems to lead the pack in that regard.
I hadn't paid much attention to it. However, the lobby of my building has it always up on the big TV.

Every. little. fucking. thing. is BREAKING NEWS

The big news networks are choosing to ignore the "Boy Who Cried Wolf". I guess this works for them...  ]]>

CNN was awesome before Trump. There would be some fierce debates where both sides make reasonable points a la Ben Ferguson vs Marc Lamont Hill. I could watch those two go at it all day! Now it's just anti Trump propaganda. Completely uninteresting to watch.

We don't even talk about tragedies on that channel anymore. Maybe 5 minutes on each program, and then back to what random staffer left the administration and 30 minutes talking about how awful to work for Trump must be.
I'd agree it was tolerable before Trump. You did have some good stuff on, but a lot of their talent left for other outlets/career paths. Their daytime programming is basically a political soap opera. Anytime they have a segment or show with Brooke, I cringe and change the channel.
